Subject: Too Many YouTube Copyright Infringement Claims!
Created a video around this with the Licenses, creative commons all required, etc but YouTube claimed Blocked no one could watch it because it has some 'Vertigo" insert (probably John Barry's music)etc there was about 5 claims - trimmed out 4 but they blocked it from bring viewed by an audience :)
Maybe that mark 3.0 is way out of date and should be 4.0.

Alex contacted me directly in addition to his inquiry here. After a quick Google search I found this document by the Federal Register that, as far as I can tell, shows the copyright for Lady Whirlwind was reinstated in 1997 by Star TV Filmed Entertainment, Ltd. Can someone read this document and confirm? That's how it looked to me

While it is unexpected and refreshing to have a martial arts movie centered around a woman, her character, along with everyone else's, is far too shallow. In spending indulgent amounts of time (with no music, mind you) on unrealistic fight scenes, the movie squanders away time which would have been better spent on characterization (yes, even in a martial arts movie). My favorite scene is the one which sees both the male lead and Tien in a position of taking care of another (an old man and the girlfriend, respectively). However, though the encounter is transformative for him, Lady Whirlwind (Tien) is not changed by her taking care of the girlfriend- she still seeks revenge. Although the film is as a whole unsatisfying, there are a few salvageable ideas that may inspire better projects, such as the idea of a woman as the best protector of women and the superiority of a woman in battle. The title of the film (at least this particular title) "Lady Whirlwind" is, sadly, much more enticing than the movie would prove. Even "two dimensional" would be giving it too much credit.

This is an fun kung fu film with all the classic bits you've come to love - action, lovely ladies, action, a soundtrack that rips off western film scores, action, great dialogue, and more action.

Her fans in Asia in the 1970's called her "Lady Whirlwind", and this is the film that gave her that title.
If you blink, you will miss an exciting scene. The film never stops, and from the opening battle on,I found myself in awe of the action scenes. Sammo Hung, who grew up with Jackie Chan in the Chinese Opera School stages some incredible action sequences.
There is even a training sequence that you know Tarantino studied for KILL BILL.
An absolute delight, with action scenes that helped launch the kung fu films worldwide.

Subject: not an A flick but not a B movie either
Subject: not an A flick but not a B movie either
If you like martial arts movie watch this, you will like it. Innovative, evolving fight scenes, fly wire harness moments included, but reasonably well done in a tongue in cheek sort of way. The fly wire meant the production had a higher budget than a typical B movie martial arts flick, and it shows. The dialogue is a little bit more american sounding, and cursing in film became a part of the movies made for the new at that time motion picture rating code of "R", which meant it was restricted and you could go in as a child only accompanied by an adult. Which is what all us kids wanted to do, go see the movies with the "R" rating. There was always something you "weren't supposed to see" in them, so that made them enticing and the movie you wanted to see. This movie has 2 of the 3 main parts to make an "R" rating, cursing and gore, it lacks any brief nudity, the 3rd part and there aren't any racial slurs or epithets. The production values were good, but we are suffering with at least a copy of a copy. The original movie was cinema wide, you can see in a couple wide shots where one entity has been cropped out of view because it has been bumped through "formatted to fit your TV" media, and the video color saturation has gone typically soft, which results from making a tape copy off of a broadcast TV signal, instead of from a cable signal. The movie's mood swings a lot, from the fight scenes we end up in mello drama family in-between stuff equipped with orchestral violin music one would call sappy, golden meadows stuff. And at its end it does betray it's B movie self when the storyline comes to its final moment, I won't tell you, you will have to go there yourself. I liked it, better than three stars, I gave it four but it's a hair below that really.

Interesting martial arts from China. A film styles of a western, film noir, and fantasy. The music borrowed freely from John Barry(Goldfinger),Bernard Hermann(Vertigo, and Pyscho)&even John Williams
